Yeagers Fan Drive Tops Previous Record at Over 300 Fans

For the past five years, Yeagers Hardware has partnered with The Salvation Army to help provide low-cost box fans to those in the community most vulnerable to the summer heat. Every year, Yeagers, with the help of their patrons, has been able to increase those donations. This year they added a “round up the change” program to be able to purchase even more fans. Previously donors had to buy the full fan at $15 but this year they were offered either option to help. The program was a success and Yeagers provided The Salvation Army with 305 fans (68 more fans than last year).

The fans are distributed by The Salvation Army based on specific criteria, helping to provide for the elderly and low-income residents in the River Valley. Those needing assistance are encouraged to go to The Salvation Army at 301 N. 6th St. in Fort Smith. Applicants must have a photo ID, proof of all members of their household and current proof of address. Limit one fan per address. A person/household is eligible for a fan once every two years.

The Salvation Army is also accepting donations of new fans which can be dropped off at the main office.  Donors will receive a tax receipt for that tax-deductible donation.
